Paris, finalement.

On our last day in Paris, we had to tick the last thing off of Oliver’s wishlist: The Louvre. He absolutely had to see the Mona Lisa, he insisted. Yes, he knew it was small and it would be crowded. But man, did that kid’s face light up when he got there! So excited. Selfies happened when he made it to the front of the crowd, and he finally got his eyeful of ML.

Oliver *needed* to go to the Louvre, to see the Mona Lisa. He definitely got a kick out of seeing her, but in the end both kids were mainly crazy about the Egyptian Antiquities.

Oliver, so darned excited to be at the Louvre. I feel bad because I didn't realize (and he didn't tell me) that he wanted me to take the photo at the right angle to make it look like he was holding the tip of the pyramid. Oops!

Yes, it's kind of cheesy and very touristy, but it really is beautiful.

We whipped through the main “big” sights of the Louvre, admiring the amazing architectural details and decor along the way, and made our way to the Egyptian Antiquities. We all loved that part, especially the kids, and much time was spend gazing at hieroglyphics, eyes widening at the mummy (“is it really real mom?!”), and checking out the sarcophagi. Just the age of all the Egyptian artifacts was mind-boggling. Absolutely incredible!

My favourite thing about the Louvre was the architecture. These vaulted tiled ceilings kinda blew my mind.

Blown away by the detail.

We ended our trip with a quick lunch in the Jardins des Tuileries, and made our way back to the train station. We really can’t wait to get back up to Paris for another visit. So much beauty, and so much more to see and experience.
